Kitchen Trends for 2020

Can you believe it? We’ve reached another New Year and this may be the one when you plan to remodel your kitchen, or at the very least, freshen it up to make it more appealing and enjoyable.

Since the kitchen is the heart of the home, we have gathered a few great organizing tips and design trends that will give your kitchen some “pizazz” and greater convenience so that your family, friends, and especially YOU, will want to spend a lot more time there.

Organization

Nothing makes a kitchen easier and more fun to work in than one that is well organized. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Charging Drawer

Here’s an easy way to get rid of all the wires, phones and devices that are scattered all over your kitchen counters. Allocate one drawer and install a surge protector inside of the drawer. If you’re planning to renovate, speak to your remodeler/contractor and be sure this is included in the plans.

Corner Pots/Pans Organizer

If you have one of those corner cabinets that is the black hole of your kitchen, an easy DIY project is to install a LeMans Blind Corner pots and pans organizer. If you’re remodeling, absolutely include this in your plans. It will make you so efficient you won’t know how you ever lived without it.

Pull-out Spice Drawers

Here’s one we love. The pull-out spice drawer takes all those annoying little spice containers, condiment bottles, oils, vinegars, etc., and keeps them easy to reach and in neat rows. You’ll always know where to find everything with no chance of them toppling out of the cabinet.

Drawer Plate & Peg System

Another especially convenient organization tool is using a peg and plate system inside of deep drawers. This enables you to stack plates, bowls, cups, saucers and other dishware where it is easy to reach and eliminates having to stretch for them high up in a cabinet. Putting dishes away is a breeze as well.

Kitchen Design Ideas

Some 2020 design trends have been around for a year or so, but are still extremely popular and actually growing in popularity. Here are a few we are seeing into the new year:

Dark Blue Cabinets

We must admit, this trend has been around for a little more than a year, but its popularity has not waned, and if anything has grown stronger. More often than not, we use dark blue cabinets in a white kitchen as an accent color. The dark blue is rich and adds color to an all white kitchen.

Open Shelving

Open shelving is another design trend that continues to grow. The open shelves allow homeowners to display much-loved decorative and functional pieces and make items more easily accessible. Along with the open shelving concept comes the request for deep drawers in which to neatly store plates, bowls and pots under counters. Moving into 20202 and beyond, it’s all about accessibility and convenience.

Under-Counter Appliances

This trend seems to be gaining in popularity every year as more people are requesting undercounter appliances to make life easier in the kitchen. These two examples of a beverage/wine fridge and microwave demonstrate how well they fit into the layout of a kitchen – convenience and design all in one.

Glass Front Cabinets

Glass front cabinets are still the rage and are a great design trend if you want a more expansive look in your kitchen but do not want open shelving. Glass front cabinets may be the right answer for you…the best of both worlds…a way to show off special glassware or objects with the cabinet space for more storage.
